Should you visit koh samui?
Koh Samui is a beautiful island in the south east of Thailand. Depending on who you speak to, you will get mixed opinions on this island. Many backpackers say they don’t like it because there is less going on for them and more geared up to families. Which can be true, it depends where you stay, who you go with and what you want to do there.
how long should you spend in koh samui?
If you are looking for an island to relax on beautiful beaches, see some temples and a bit of an explore then Koh Samui would be lovely for a week. However, if you’re looking more for a lively backpacker vibe with lots going on then I would suggest staying here just to recover from a wild few days! If you are flying you will fly here so you could just spend one night here before getting a ferry to the other islands the next day (this is what we did) after a mad week in Koh Phangan this is all we needed!

When should you visit Koh samui?
Obviously Thailand’s dry season is a good time to go (November – April) but we went at the end of June and had full sun the entire time. Perhaps we were lucky, but it does seem that the weather app in Thailand is always wrong! It would always be forecast a full day of rain but it would actually be full sun all day – if it ever does rain it is usually just a shower. Bare in mind too that dry season is also peak season so there will be more people about and things will be a bit more expensive
